2nd Annual Bocce Ball Tournament Summary - June 21, 2008 Well we made it! Our second annual bocce ball tournament is complete and was a great time. I'd like to pay a special thanks to everyone who made out for a spectacular day and if I can point one person out, I'd like to thank Monica Eeg for her support in making this the premier event she and I want it to be in the years to come. For those of you who haven't met us, Monica and I are your chapter leaders. It's not an easy task and we're giving it all we can to make SDSU Alumni successful, fun and the premier alumni group for San Diego State. So please support us and come to future events. When we started this chapter a little over 2 years ago we hoped for an event like this one. Alumni spanning generations attended from Charly Kotek '62 all the way up. Pretty cool! Thanks Charly. I'm really happy you came for the 2nd year in a row. Second year attendees also included Tim Fields, Monica and I. Hope to see you all at the 3rd Annual! This year we had a trophy for the tournament and I'm engraving the names of last year's winners, Tim Fields and Jim Clyne along with this year's winners, Mark Brown and Troy Cox. Congrats!
Coach Long/Jeff Schemmel Visit - May 3, 2008

Coach Long made his second visit to meet with Bay Area Alumni and Jeff Schemmel joined us as well for a day at Chevy's Restaurant in Foster City. After spending a short time socializing and getting acquainted, Jeff Schemmel updated local alumni with the state of affairs with SDSU athletics. He noted that this year has been one of the best years in recent memory for athletics including successful seasons with women's water polo, men's and women's baseball/softball, men's basketball and continuing improvement with football, to name a few. Mr. Schemmel then introduced Coach Long and mentioned the successes and challenges in re-building our football program. Coach Long discussed how our program continues to build, attract student athletes both locally and nationwide and the importance of academics. Our Quarterback is Ryan Lindell, currently, but is always under review and things can change. Of interest for Northern California Alumni are players from Hayward (Brandon Davis, Castlemont H.S.), Salinas (Bryan Dougherty, Salinas H.S./Monterey Peninsula College) and Sacramento (Darryn Lewis, Franklin E.G. H.S.)
